John Uphoff was the man who made Islanders set their alarm clocks an hour earlier in the morning so they didn't miss his breakfast show, and sent them off to work with a smile on their faces.
John changed the sound of radio broadcasting in the Island and the John Uphoff Memorial Trust has been created to perpetuate his work.
Funds will be raised through a series of events each year and the Trustees will award an annual bursary to give financial assistance to people wishing to take time out to gain work experience and exposure in radio broadcasting, or to improve their existing skills.
